Privacy policy
This policy explains what information Shmo Software (operated by Shmo Software LLC, "we") collects on shmosoftware.com, why, and what you can do about it. Short version: we collect what you send through our contact form so we can respond to your request, and we do not sell it.

What we collect
When you send us a message through the contact form, we collect what you enter:
- Your first name and email address
- Your last name, if you provide it
- Your message about the project or question
What we collect automatically
Like every website, our host (Cloudflare) processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request to deliver the site and keep it secure. GoHighLevel provides the embedded contact form and processes the information needed to load it and receive your submission. The form also records the submission time and your time zone, when available.
We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages help people. It sets cookies to do that, and Google receives technical information such as your browser, device, approximate location and the pages you view. We never send it your name, email or anything you type into a form. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google's opt-out add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout), and the site still works.
Contentsquare
We also use Contentsquare, a website analytics service from Content Square SAS and its affiliates, to understand how people use this site so we can improve it.
When you visit, Contentsquare's script records the pages you view, the page that sent you here, your clicks, taps, scrolling and mouse movements, and technical details such as your device type, browser, screen size and an approximate city-level location based on your IP address. It may also create session recordings that replay those visits. In those recordings the text, numbers and images on our pages are masked, except our own headings, menus and buttons. We mark the contact form, and the booking calendar when it is available, to be masked in Contentsquare recordings. GoHighLevel receives the details you submit through its forms. Before a page address reaches Contentsquare, we remove email addresses, codes and other personal details from it, keeping only the page and the tags that say which ad or email sent you; an address we do not recognize is sent as our "page not found" page.
Contentsquare stores this information using first-party cookies on our domain: _cs_id, a random visitor ID kept for 13 months; _cs_s, your current session, kept for 30 minutes; and _cs_c and _cs_cvars, technical settings for your visit. It may also use your browser's local storage.
Contentsquare processes this data on our behalf as our service provider. It keeps the data for up to 13 months and deletes IP addresses after 3 days.
We do not load Contentsquare when your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal. You can also opt out of Contentsquare on this site at any time with the opt-out button on our privacy policy page, or by visiting https://shmosoftware.com/?_cs_optout (that link does not load Contentsquare at all). This sets a _cs_optout cookie that stops Contentsquare on this site for 13 months; clearing your cookies removes it, so you would need to opt out again.
To learn more, see Contentsquare's Services Privacy Policy at contentsquare.com/services-privacy-policy. You can make privacy requests to us, or through Contentsquare's portal at contentsquare.com/privacy-center/data-subject-request-portal.
How we use it
We use your information to:
- Reply by email and follow up about the project or question you sent us
- Arrange a build call if you ask for one
- Keep the site secure
- Understand which pages help people, so we can improve the site
Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run the site and our business, and only for that purpose:
- Cloudflare, which hosts the site
- GoHighLevel, which hosts the contact form and stores submissions in our customer relationship system
- Google, which provides Google Analytics
- Contentsquare, which provides website analytics and session recordings
Videos
One hidden surprise on the site plays a YouTube video, only if you find it and trigger it. It loads from youtube-nocookie.com, and YouTube's own privacy policy applies to that video.
How long we keep it
We keep form submissions for as long as we need them to talk to you and to run our business, and we delete them when you ask us to, unless the law requires us to keep them.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you, correct or delete the information we have about you. Send the request through our contact form at https://shmosoftware.com/contact and we will take care of it.
Children
This site is for business owners. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Security
The site and embedded contact form run over HTTPS. We take reasonable steps to limit access to the information you send us. No system is perfectly secure.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update it on this page and change the date at the top.
